CHARDHAM

SAYANACHATTI
ROUTE TO YAMNOTRI

YAMNOTRI TEMPLE

Having stayed overnight at sayanachatti a small picturesque village nestled in the lap of tall green mountains we reached janakichatti by jeeps and then started our climb to yamnotri temple. It is a 7km trek one way.It is a comfortable climb except for the last 1 km.Anyone interested in walking should not hesitate to walk this route. the road is concreted throughout and there are benches enroute where you can rest.tea stalls and drinking water fountains are there enroute.I could manage to climb the 7 km route in two and half hours taking 5 minutes halts every 15 minutes.

For those who are not interested in climbing you can opt for horses, doli or pittu(sitting in a basket )which you can see in the pictures below.

Kedarnath trek is more difficult compared to yamnotri. It is a 14km long trek.It is a steep climb in the begining and then a gradual slope .Carry all the woollen clothes one would require them at kedarnath. If it is raining a plastic pant and windsheater is the best for this route.Be prepared for landslides on this route. The photos that you see above are taken sitting in a doli. The scenery throughout is superb
